Year of Mary

The Year of Mary

This year we are joining all schools across the diocese of Hexham and Newcastle in celebrating ‘The Year of Mary’. Each month will have a theme dedicated to prayer throughout the school in forms of art, music, dance and scripture.
Our prayer groups offered to both children and staff will also cover monthly themes.

June Prayer

For those who are persecuted

O Most Blessed Mother, heart of love, heart of mercy,
always listening, caring and loving, hear our prayers. As your children,
we ask you to remember us to our brother, Jesus.
Listen to the prayers we place before you today.
We especially remember those who are persecuted because of who they are,
what they believe or where they live.
Pause for silent prayer

We know your heart is ever open to those who ask for your prayers.
We trust to your gentle care and generous heart, those whom we love, those who are sick or lonely or hurting.
Pause for silent prayer
Help all of us, Holy Mother, to recognise injustice and to work and pray for a fairer world.

Amen.

May Prayer

For Workers

Loving St Joseph,
You worked hard as a carpenter to provide for Mary and Jesus.
We ask you to remember all workers.
May their achievements and produce be appreciated.
May they receive a fair, living wage.
Be with them when they are tired and weary of work.
We pray for all those who are looking for work.
May they find the jobs they need to support their families.
We ask this in Jesus’ name.

Amen

April Prayer

For Vocations

Loving God,
just as Mary said ‘Yes’ to your plan for her,
help us to listen to you calling us
that we may follow our vocations
and say ‘Yes’ to whatever you ask of us.
We pray especially for those who have been called to a religious life,
that they may always lead others to you.
We pray that men and women will hear your call
and serve you through serving others.
Through Christ our Lord.

Amen

March Prayer

Our Lady of Sorrows,

you suffered such sadness and grief
as you stood at the foot of the cross
and watched your son die.
We praise you for your faith, which accepted the life God planned for you.
We praise you for your hope, which trusted in God.
We praise you for your love in bearing with Jesus the sorrows of His passion.
Holy Mary, we ask you to look with pity on all those in need of help.
We remember especially those who will go hungry today.
During this season of Lent
may we follow your example of faith and hope and love,
and remember our brothers and sisters in need,
through our prayers, through our self-sacrifice and through our giving to charity.

Amen

February Prayer

We pray for all those who are sick, injured or dying.

Lord Jesus,
We remember how you healed the sick, the lame, the blind.
Send your love and mercy to all people who are suffering.
Give them courage, healing and strength.
We thank you for all doctors and nurses and for all who look after the sick.
Give them wisdom, skill and patience as they bring help and care to those in need.
Help us to share your love and mercy through our prayer and support.
We ask Our Lady of Lourdes to be with those in pain,
that they may feel her comfort and love.

Amen

January Prayer

We pray for our families

Mary, mother of God and our holy mother,
We bring our families to you in prayer.
Hold and protect them in your loving arms as you held your precious son Jesus.
Please ask God to help us to always show love to our families in the same way as you loved Jesus and Joseph.
May we always turn to you, Mary our mother as our guide in following Jesus.

Amen
